We’re excited to announce that we’ve closed a $20M C Round with NEA and other previous investors, including Core Capital, bringing our total funding to $34M. In addition, we’re consolidating our branding and our company now will be known as Fugue—that’s the name of the cloud operating system we’re developing. The rapid adoption of cloud computing brings new challenges as applications have become distributed and infrastructure has proliferated. Fugue reins in this complexity and simplifies operations by building, enforcing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure, continuously and automatically. Fugue can be used to operate cloud-native workloads and to migrate and run traditional data center applications in the cloud. It will initially operate workloads on Amazon Web Services. Read more...

Luminal announces Fugue at AWS re:Invent

    Fugue Team

Luminal announced its first product, Fugue, at AWS re:Invent on stage with Werner Vogels, CTO of Amazon. Fugue is immutable infrastructure realized. It fully automates the deployment, operations and maintenance of infrastructure on AWS. By continuously regenerating infrastructure components, Fugue enforces desired state, removes unwanted changes, and mitigates infrastructure quality issues like noisy neighbors. Fugue uses Ludwig, a domain-specific language that allows you to compose infrastructure using libraries and other programming techniques. With Ludwig, you can error check at design time rather than in production. We invite you to read why we built Fugue and register for beta. Below is Luminal CEO Josh Stella introducing Fugue on stage with Werner Vogels at AWS re:Invent.

    #Pipeday: The 50th Anniversary of |

    Fugue Team

We should have some ways of coupling programs like garden hose - screw in another segment when it becomes necessary to massage data in another way. Doug McIlroy, Bell Labs – October 11, 1964 At Luminal, we're unabashed fans of Unix and the Unix Philosophy. Last year, we marked the 49th anniversary of the Unix pipe (|) and we'd be remiss not to mark this year's golden date. You can revisit last year's #Pipeday post to learn more about why the | set the course for a standard software interface, as well as the accompanying modularity in computing. For the 50th anniversary, we thought it would be fun to turn it over to members of our growing team to find out what the | means to them. Pipes mean simplicity and composability for me. Simple functions tend to be easy to reason about,...

    Announcing our $3.8MM Series A

    Fugue Team

We’re excited to announce that Luminal has closed a $3.8MM Series A financing round with Core Capital Partners, Maryland Venture Fund, New Enterprise Associates, and other investors. The round includes the conversion of $1.1MM in convertible debt the company raised in August 2012.
